I am very pleased to learn about the proposed roundabout at the Gordonton Road/Puketaha Road intersection and the one into Darjon Drive however no mention has been made of either a roundabout or a right turning bay for traffic travelling south along Gordonton Road and turning right into Stoneleigh Drive. This intersection is every bit as dangerous as Darjon and needs to be given the same priority before there is a fatality. Prior to turning into Stoneleigh I always put my indicator on as soon as I pass the Darjon intersection however I have still had some very close calls, the last one involving a truck and trailer unit following me and only swerving at the last minute. I have heard of many similar experiences from residents in Stoneleigh Drive and surrounding streets. With the massive growth in the north East of Hamilton the traffic along Gordonton Road has increased dramatically over recent years and as it did not show any decrease during the recent Covid-19 lockdowns for the Auckland region it would appear the majority of vehicles will continue to travel this road even when the Waikato Expressway is open.
We’re proposing to balance our books in 2024/25 and reset our debt-to-revenue ratio to 300% for 2021/22 then decreasing by 5% each year until 2025/26 where we will remain at 280% from 2026/27 to 2030/31. Rates are proposed to increase by an average of 8.9% in 2021/22 and 4.9% annually until 2030/31.
We have lots of other projects included in our Long-Term Plan. We want to hear you views on any of them.
