Far more than $55 million is desperately needed. Safer cycling should be considered an essential service, not a possible add on. The highest possible amount should be locked in, with a fixed amount each year, regardless of the whims of ever changing Councillors.
Anything regarding cycling infrastructure should always receive more funding, not less.
We’re proposing to balance our books in 2024/25 and reset our debt-to-revenue ratio to 300% for 2021/22 then decreasing by 5% each year until 2025/26 where we will remain at 280% from 2026/27 to 2030/31. Rates are proposed to increase by an average of 8.9% in 2021/22 and 4.9% annually until 2030/31.
I thought we were already in a set rates increase set a couple of years ago. Why does the issue of rates keep coming up every year.
We have lots of other projects included in our Long-Term Plan. We want to hear you views on any of them.
Far more safer cycling infrastructure, and far less pretty, nice whims... Safer connected cycle infrastructure has been neglected for decades. Now is the time to sort out the bits and pieces approach, and get on with connecting the city, and making it safer.
