55 Million is pittance, cut the roading budget to get more cycling/active transport routes. No more shared paths and invest in bike storage and facilities at the bus station and train station. want better bus infrastructure that allows for active transport modes to be carried on it. covered bus stops at every stop
please no more shared paths, this will become a major active travel route, enable that by separating cyclists and walkers
option 3 invest in decent public transport links with PRIORITY into the city. guaranteed lanes and high frequency
please dont make this a vanity project, lets just design a decent bridge that will work (not the proposed chow hill one) make it wide especially as a shared path, even better separate the walkers from wheeled transport
fix the pool at the bottom of victoria st, especially with the proposed bridge over the river.
have more of the eftpos donation points in the gardens, including turnstyle like in the main entrance. Monetise the space better, more food venues, the restaurant could be one of the stars in Hamiltons F&B lineup based on location but is a tired tuck shop with nothing to tempt visitors. its a crime to have such a mediocre venue at such a world class location.
We’re proposing to balance our books in 2024/25 and reset our debt-to-revenue ratio to 300% for 2021/22 then decreasing by 5% each year until 2025/26 where we will remain at 280% from 2026/27 to 2030/31. Rates are proposed to increase by an average of 8.9% in 2021/22 and 4.9% annually until 2030/31.
Borrow now at the low interest rates, issue bonds even, just invest in infrastructure NOW to encourage carbon friendly travel options and make the city truly the city of the future. Give us trains/trams/speedy busses, bike routes and tree lined walkways. Close off Victoria st to everything but people power from claudelands bridge to knox street. put a tram (or tram like thing) running the length of victoria st to move people up and down the street. Provide concessions along the river by the old lido, encourage street vendors into the center of town and establish a "china town" where all the great asian restaurants are.
We have lots of other projects included in our Long-Term Plan. We want to hear you views on any of them.
More active travel infrastructure, less shared paths. Prioritise active travel modes over cars on all inner city routes, protected cycle ways and cycle signals to make biking faster than driving (it already is during rush hours) Light up the inner city at night (brighter than it is now) more street art, a better route from the inner city to the gardens for foot/active travel. Protect the footpaths on all bridge especially where cycle routes go on them. higher density housing, no new development without a village (local shops, local library)
